February 29, 2008 - March 1, 2008
As part of a worldwide celebration of the life and memory of Gene Golub, a symposium in his honor will be held on the University of Illinois campus in Urbana on the afternoon of February 29, 2008, which would have been his 19th birthday, and will continue through the morning of March 1. Please follow the links at left for more information.
Gene Golub was a towering figure in numerical analysis, not only because of his many fundamental research contributions, but also because of his personal role in unifying the worldwide research community in this area and establishing a spirit of openness, collegiality, and collaboration. As a native of Chicago and an alumnus of the University of Illinois, it is especially fitting that Gene's many friends in Illinois and throughout the Midwest have an opportunity to participate in this worldwide celebration of his life and memory.
